Art for the soul and the heart

Transgender angel

I just got back from Sweden. When I visit Sweden I am always inspired to deep dive into memories of family and friends. I look at old photos, spend time with my relatives, and enjoy coffee with my mom and stepfather every day. This comes through in my art. The feelings are both happy and sad. There's sadness in that the people that I love are getting older; but I'm happy that I get to still spend time with them and I do cherish that.

Right now I am now working on a series of angels. This one was inspired by the Skånsk landscape (not the pil träd - the willow in the background, and the bridge to Denmark which is easy to see from the Höllviken).

Angels are a beautiful part of folk art and have been for centuries. The idea that someone is watching over you is compelling. I don't know if it's true but I like the idea. This angel loves everyone and holds a light for transgender kids.

That's how it is with art. I manifest through it. I needed a vacation during Covid so I took myself on trips with my art! I visited the Amalfi Coast in Italy, for example, by making this watercolor. Not literally of course, but I gave myself permission to dream and someday I will get there I'm sure.

Here's another angel, this one is for all the SPED teachers. The good ones truly are angels on earth.
