Little Compton Art Show

12 x 12 oil on wood "Our House" - sold
12 x 12 oil on wood "Antique Zinnias" - sold
These two little panels are in the Little Compton, RI art show this weekend which was fitting since they were painted on site in LC.  I love working in oil on wood panel.  The wood does tend to absorb the paint so you have work in many layers but I think that the wood grain that shows through is very appealing.

Here's a little post on what I had to do to get the space ready to make the paintings! Let's just say that the old chicken coop was being used to store wood so it was a bit of a mess. ;)
1. move all the wood up the hill
2. clean all the dirt
3. Windex
4. remove spiders
5. set up shop with paints, paper on the floor etc.
6. Paint every day at the crack of dawn before it got too hot and the kids got up!
As Picasso rightly said: "Inspiration exists but it has to find you working."
